About this experience
Sea Octopus Cruise treats a day on Ha Long Bay as a culinary journey. The name comes from ruốc, a small local octopus and one of the region's prized delicacies, and the cruise centres its experience on food. You'll enjoy a generous lunch buffet of Asian and European dishes, fresh seafood and local specialities, all prepared by professional chefs, as the UNESCO World Heritage seascape of limestone islets and emerald water drifts past.
The route takes in three of the bay's most loved stops: the huge caverns of Sung Sot Cave, the sheltered lagoon at Luon Cave, and the beach and summit viewpoint of Ti Top Island. You can sail on the original Sea Octopus Cruise, known for its two restaurants, VIP dining rooms, bar and lounge, and spacious sundecks, or choose the newly launched Sea Octopus President Cruise. Round-trip transfer from Hanoi is available, or you can meet the cruise directly at Ha Long.
What to expect
Your day starts at Ha Long International Cruise Port, either after an early pick-up from Hanoi's Old Quarter or on your own arrival in Ha Long. The Sea Octopus team greets you with a traditional drum performance, a welcome drink and live music. Once you've boarded, the cruise sets out into the bay, and you can watch the limestone karsts rise from the water from the sundeck.
Through the day you'll swim at Moon Beach or climb Ti Top Island for the view, explore the chambers of Sung Sot Cave, and take in the lagoon at Luon Cave by kayak or bamboo boat, or stay onboard and relax. Lunch is served in the onboard restaurant. In the afternoon you can enjoy tea and music as the cruise heads back to port in the late afternoon, and Hanoi guests are driven back to the city in the evening.
