Thailand Trip Cost from India: Full ₹ Budget Breakdown (2026)
Plan a Thailand trip from India with realistic 2026 costs for flights, hotels, food, transport and tickets, plus 4-day and 7-day budgets in ₹.

The one-table answer
A 4-day Thailand trip from India costs about ₹30,000 per person on a tight budget, ₹45,000–₹50,000 mid-range, and ₹84,000+ in comfort. These estimates include return flights and assume two people share a room. Visa-exempt entry currently costs ₹0; the free TDAC is still required.

The rest of this guide explains each line, then builds the 7-day, couple and honeymoon versions.
Entry paperwork currently costs ₹0
Indian ordinary passport holders currently enter Thailand without a visa for a normal holiday, so the entry line in this budget is ₹0. Thailand has approved a 30-day replacement for the current 60-day exemption, but that change starts only after publication in the Royal Gazette and a 15-day waiting period.
Every traveller must still submit the free TDAC digital arrival card within the three days before arrival. If you plan to stay beyond the visa-free period or travel for another purpose, check the correct e-visa category. The Thailand visa guide explains the rule in force and the approved change.
Flights from Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata and Bengaluru
Return fares booked 6–8 weeks ahead, off-peak vs the November–February peak and Indian holiday weeks:
| From | Off-peak return | Peak / holiday weeks |
|---|---|---|
| Kolkata | ₹11,000–₹16,000 | ₹18,000–₹28,000 |
| Delhi | ₹14,000–₹20,000 | ₹22,000–₹34,000 |
| Mumbai | ₹14,000–₹21,000 | ₹22,000–₹34,000 |
| Bengaluru | ₹14,000–₹22,000 | ₹22,000–₹35,000 |
Kolkata is the cheapest gateway — it is the shortest route, about 2.5 hours in the air. Budget carriers fly direct from all four cities to Bangkok. Two rules beat any fare hack: book 6–8 weeks out, and avoid Diwali week and December 20–January 3, when fares roughly double.
Hotels: what each tier buys
Per night for a double room, Bangkok city rates:
- Guesthouse / 2-star: ₹1,500–₹2,500 (฿500–900). Clean, small, fine for a base.
- 3-star: ₹2,500–₹4,500 (฿900–1,600). The Indian mid-range default — Sukhumvit or Pratunam.
- 4-star: ₹5,500–₹9,000 (฿1,900–3,100). Pool, breakfast, river or skyline views.
- 5-star / pool villa: ₹12,000+ (฿4,100+). Phuket beach resorts run 20–30% above Bangkok for the same star count in peak season.
Pattaya prices sit close to Bangkok; Phuket is the expensive one. In the June–September green season, all tiers drop 30–50% — the single biggest lever in a Thailand budget (see Thailand in the monsoon).
Food: ₹800 a day is possible, ₹1,500 is comfortable
Street food and food courts keep Thailand cheap. A street or mall-food-court meal costs ₹150–₹300 (฿50–100), so a full street-food day is ₹800–₹1,000. Mixing in one sit-down or Indian restaurant meal (₹400–₹800 (฿150–270)) puts a comfortable day at ₹1,200–₹1,800 per person. Vegetarians manage fine with the "jay" system — our veg food guide has the full playbook.
What inflates food budgets: alcohol (a restaurant beer is ₹350–₹500 (฿120–170), cocktails double that) and hotel breakfasts. Skip the breakfast package; eat outside for a third of the price.
Attractions: Bangkok vs Pattaya vs Phuket
Activity money goes furthest in Pattaya and gets eaten fastest in Phuket, where everything involves a boat. Rough per-person budgets for 2–3 days of sightseeing in each:
| City | Big tickets | Activity budget |
|---|---|---|
| Bangkok | Grand Palace ₹1,450 (฿500), Safari World ~₹3,000, dinner cruise ₹2,400–₹3,200 | ₹7,000–₹9,000 |
| Pattaya | Coral Island tour ₹1,500–₹2,500, Sanctuary of Truth ~₹1,450 (฿500), Alcazar show ~₹1,700 | ₹5,000–₹7,000 |
| Phuket | Phi Phi day trip ₹2,600–₹3,500, James Bond Island tour ₹2,300–₹3,200, evening show ~₹2,500 | ₹8,000–₹12,000 |
Booking the big tickets online before you fly locks the price in INR and skips gate queues — browse current prices at things to do in Thailand.
4 days vs 7 days: the full totals
Per person on twin sharing, and per couple, mid-range:
| Trip | Per person | Per couple |
|---|---|---|
| 4 days Bangkok | ~₹51,000 | ~₹95,000 |
| 6–7 days Bangkok + Pattaya | ₹65,000–₹85,000 | ₹1.4–₹1.7 lakh |
| 7 days Bangkok + Phuket | ₹80,000–₹95,000 | ₹1.6–₹1.9 lakh |
The Bangkok+Pattaya combo is the value pick: the transfer is a 2-hour bus (₹400–₹800 (฿150–300)), not a flight. Bangkok+Phuket adds a domestic flight (₹3,500–₹6,000 each way) and pricier hotels — worth it for the islands, but that is where a ₹75,000 plan becomes ₹95,000. A 4-day version of the full plan, day by day, is in our Bangkok itinerary under ₹50,000.
The honeymoon premium
A Thailand honeymoon costs ₹2.2–₹2.8 lakh per couple for 6–7 days done properly: 4-star or pool-villa stays, Bangkok plus Phuket or Krabi, a private longtail island day, a premium dinner cruise, one spa afternoon. That is roughly ₹60,000–₹90,000 above a standard couple trip — almost all of it hotel tier and private-versus-group tours.
The green-season trick works hardest here: the same pool villa drops 30–50% in June–September, pulling a ₹2.5 lakh honeymoon under ₹2 lakh for the cost of a daily hour of rain.
Where budgets actually blow up
The plan rarely fails on hotels or food. It fails here:
- Beach clubs. Phuket and Pattaya beach clubs run ₹2,500–₹5,000 per person before dinner. Two afternoons = one hotel night gone.
- Taxis instead of trains. Bangkok's BTS costs ₹50–₹180 (฿17–62) a ride; a Grab across town in traffic is ₹600–₹900. Four days of Grab-everywhere adds ₹4,000+.
- Shopping. Chatuchak and Platinum are why you keep a hard cash cap. Decide the number before you enter.
- Peak-date surcharges. Diwali and Christmas–New Year weeks double flights and add 30–50% to hotels. Shifting one week saves more than every other tip combined.
- Airport currency counters. Exchange in the city, not at the airport; carry ₹10,000–₹15,000 worth of baht in cash and put the rest on a zero-forex-markup card. UPI does not work in Thailand.
Plan your trip
Lock the fixed costs early — flights 6–8 weeks out, e-visa before you fly, big attraction tickets in INR before you land — and leave the rest loose:
Start with the paperwork in the Thailand visa guide, and if your dates are flexible, the monsoon guide shows when the same trip costs ₹30,000 less.
Frequently Asked Questions
Plan about ₹46,000 per person for a comfortable mid-range 4-day trip — flights, a 3-star hotel on twin sharing, food, transport and major attractions included. A tight budget can fit near ₹30,000, while a 7-day two-city trip usually runs ₹70,000–₹85,000 mid-range.
About ₹30,000 per person on a budget, ₹45,000–₹50,000 mid-range, and ₹84,000+ in comfort, including flights from India on twin sharing. Flights are the biggest swing item and can rise sharply during Diwali and New Year weeks.
A 6–7 day Bangkok–Pattaya trip costs roughly ₹65,000–₹85,000 per person mid-range, or ₹1.4–₹1.7 lakh for a couple. The road transfer between the two cities is cheap (₹400–₹800 (฿150–300) by bus, about 2 hours), so the combo adds beach days without adding a flight.
Yes, under the rule still in force on 16 August 2026, so a normal holiday has no visa fee. Thailand has approved a future 30-day exemption, but it begins only after the Royal Gazette process. Every traveller still needs the free TDAC. Check our Thailand visa guide close to departure.
A 6–7 day Thailand honeymoon typically costs ₹2.2–₹2.8 lakh per couple: Bangkok plus Phuket or Krabi, a 4-star or pool-villa stay, a private island day and a premium dinner cruise. Trim it to around ₹1.8 lakh by travelling in the June–September green season, when resort rates drop 30–50%.
Yes, for a 4-day Bangkok-focused trip. ₹50,000 can cover off-peak flights, a 3-star hotel on twin sharing, a mix of street food and restaurants, and two or three major attractions, with a small buffer. It may not cover Phuket, peak-holiday flights or expensive nightlife.
