Nestled in the lush highlands of Kita-Karuizawa, Gunma Prefecture, Lockheart Castle is Japan's only fully authentic Scottish castle — a remarkable piece of European history transplanted stone by stone from Scotland and lovingly reconstructed in the serene Japanese countryside. Originally built in the 1920s in Hamilton, Scotland, the castle was carefully dismantled, shipped to Japan, and reassembled in the 1990s on a sprawling estate surrounded by manicured English gardens, rose beds, and seasonal blooms that create a dreamlike, fairy-tale atmosphere throughout the year.
