Alice Springs: Aboriginal Art Workshop with Marie Ryder

Join a workshop with Aboriginal artist Marie Ryder in Alice Springs. Learn about Arrernte culture, create your own art, and enjoy a calming experience in the Olive Pink Botanic Gardens.

Meet renowned Aboriginal artist Marie Ryder, an Arrernte woman who paints in both traditional and contemporary styles. Marie is the only person offering Indigenous art workshops in Alice Springs, on a Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, or Saturday between 11am - 12:30pm (other times/days can be negotiated).

Join her for a 90-minute workshop under a permanent shelter in the Olive Pink Botanic Gardens. Begin with introductions and learn about Marie’s art and culture, including some Arrernte words. See some of her art and the traditional symbols she uses.

Then, paint a small piece on canvas yourself. Enjoy a calming and reflective time as you listen, consider what you want to paint, and express yourself on canvas. Marie is happy to talk and answer any questions you have.

After the workshop, browse paintings by Marie and Kevin for sale, and have the opportunity to purchase a commissioned art piece where Marie will paint your personal, family, or business story for you over the following weeks.
